She’s Happy Foundation hosted its Inaugural Breast Cancer Brunch – A Celebration of Love, Life & Hope; which was held at Herman Park Conservancy – The Celebration Garden. The guest included Cancer Survivors and Community Leaders that came to celebrate and raise awareness of cancer survivorship; which is an important part of the cancer journey.
The honorees were carefully selected and received special awards. Hope is a simple word and yet can mean so much to anyone going through cancer. Dr. Jonita Wallace Reynolds was presented with the Celebration of Hope Award because she understands that the Power of Hope is incredible. If you have victory and hope over cancer in your mind….everything else follows. As a survivor every day is a celebration of life.
Ashley Dedmon received the Celebration of Life Award and uses her experiences to help and encourage other women.
Janice Workcuff is the personification of love. After being a long-term cancer survivor she shares that love with other cancer survivors through her Angels Surviving Cancer Network. She is definitely very deserving of the Celebration of Love Award.
Taking a leap of faith to celebrate life is very important to Paula Johnson. She drew strength from her faith while overcoming cancer. We were very proud to present her with the Celebration of Faith Award.
The Celebration of Excellence Award was provided to Kandi Eastman because she has always provided a culture of excellence. Kandi has used her platform to help others become more aware of cancer survivor ship.
One of the biggest obstacles in transitioning from being a cancer patient to a survivor can be overwhelming fear, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future. But Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee exemplifies Power. She is a woman of Strength and obstacles are opportunities to overcome.
These ladies are commended because it requires bravery to open up about something that has effected their lives so dearly. We understand that sharing your personal journey takes strength.
After the honorees were presented with awards and proclamations from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee; a special tribute was presented for all of the Fallen Angels. Twelve doves were released in honor of these beautiful ladies who lost the battle to cancer; while their families stood on their behalf.
This event is one of many that the She’s Happy Foundation will host as we continue to provide love and support for those that are in need.
